Como estas? Things are going very well here! We are on schedule and are increasingly excited about this story that is developing! Amazing photo opps are are everywhere I look! It is absolutely beautiful here and I love it in every way! Antigua is stunning!! Guatemala city is a hard place. Reality for these people is bleak. Hope seems hard to come by. But the people are real. They are in survival mode everyday. They simply do what it takes to live. The mothers seem to carry the load and take on the responsibility of caretaker. It is amazing to see their strength and it is hard to understand how they have so much of it. Many of the men seem checked out and uninvolved in the home. When they lose hope they resort to sniffing glue (pegamento) which is a hullucinagin that distorts their reality and allows them to escape from life´s challenges. They walk around acting like they are mentally challenged. It is a common road to go down in this area because its cheap and it allows them to go without eating for around 20 hours. There are many, though, who have not given up and are facing life head on with dignity and hope. It is this that we are attempting to capture. The last thing that we want to do here is make another film that makes you feel sorry for people in need. We want to portray the super hero status of these people. So far we are doing a great job because there are many heros here. It´s time they are known.
